These A Horse

For an unpredictable evening of music and comedy, Friday night at the Seahorse Tavern has one of the most varied lineups I’ve seen in a while, headlined by synth-glam-pop-wave ensemble Windom Earle, which likes to goose its fans with occasional surprises like slipping packages of Pop Rocks into copies of its CD Gold Wave, or stopping its set cold for a karaoke break, all the while playing infectiously hooky tunes that stick in your brain for days.

Joining the dukes of Earle are the Hold, with some of the fiercest punk you’ve ever heard, insightful levity from Picnicface comedy troupe member Mark Little and A Speaking Engagement With Mark Black, and the man, the myth, the certified legend that is Doug Mason, whose songs about living in Dartmouth and the realities of staring at the foothills of middle age speak to us all.
